SD Symphony Music Director David Gier and SDSO Board Member David Xenakis discuss upcoming events at the South Dakota Symphony and the Novemebr 21st Concert featuring Magdalena Modzelewska, second principal violinist. Magdalena performs with the percussion section in Lou Harrison's Suite for Violin and American Gamelan, while Zarina Stepanova, a Sioux Falls native and graduate of the Eastman School of Music, showcases the music of Mozart.

Music Director Delta David Gier and David Xenakis provide insite into the composers, and their work, as the preview the music program for the January 24th-25th concert. "SD Symphony Concert Insights"

 

David Gier and David Xenakis discuss the music program for the January 10th Concert in the South Dakota Symphony Classical Series. In this concert, American concert artist Julie Ann Smith brings her dramatic presence on the Harp to the SDSO. And the Concert program will include music of Ginastera: Variaciones concertantes Op. 23 and Concerto for Harp; and Britten: Lachrymae (Reflections on a Song of Dowland) Op. 48a and Four Sea Interludes from "Peter Grimes"

The South Dakota Symphony String and Wind ensembles "South Dakota Symphony Chamber series" concert season provides an entirely different music experience through our the concert season. SDSO Board members David Xenakis and Dean Chadwell talk about the season and ticket promotions available to concert goers.

The second concert of the classical series and first of the matinee series performances are scheduled for October 25th and 26th at the Washington Pavillion in Sioux Falls. David Xenakis and Music Director Delta David Gier have a preview of the concert program that includes the Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 4. They also introduce you to guest violinist Charles Rex and guest cellist Christopher Rex who will be featured during the concert program.
